Things Said: Michael Fassbender

"I always approach film as a fan"

“Magneto has a whole lot of complexity to him. Emotionally, he’s coming from a very damaged place. I like the ambivalence of it. I want the audience leaving the theater wondering, asking the questions themselves rather than being spoon-fed like a lot of these super-villain characters.”

  1. Oh my goodness, I absolutely love movies and am a TV Film fanatic and you wouldnt believe how excited I got when I saw this blog post in the ‘Movies’ blogs search! And I absolutely LOVE Michael Fassbender!!

I saw the interview when he said the quote that you’ve posted, and I completely agree. I love the character Magneto but especially in X Men First Class because you get to see all the depth and darkness to him that was always hinted in the original trilogy.

I dont know how much of a fan you are of Fassy and I dont know if you know, but he’s got a new film coming out, actually TWO new ones that’ll be released soon- Jane Eyre and A Dangerous Method, both of which I’m dying to see! I should probably get onto reading Jane Eyre then pretty soon πŸ˜›

I noticed how you have a catagory of posts called ‘Movie Men’, if I’m not mistaken? You wouldnt believe how similar it is to me! I’ve only just got WordPress and so havent posted much but I’m always banging on about famous (and attractive :P) actors and their interviews, with my friends and family! I’m sure I know more about TV and Film than I do about any of my school subjects xD Anyhow, hopefully soon I’ll be blogging it all, similar to you πŸ™‚

Anyhow, sorry for the long and somewhat too excitable comment, but thank you for posting and I’ll look forward to reading more stuff in your Movie Men posts! πŸ˜€

  2. I love your enthusiasm! I am actually going to see him in one of his new films titled “Shame” at the Toronto International Film Festival. It is the premier of it and I am hoping/praying he is there in the flesh. The film is by the same director who did “Hunger” in which Fassbender also starred. I am one of “Fassy’s” (as you put it) biggest fans and I love it when people get excited about the same things as I do. I really look forward to watching “Jane Eyre” as well as “A Dangerous Method” (which will also be at TIFF).

Keep blogging about what you are passionate about and thank you for being interested in what I have to say!

  3. Aaah great, not too over-excited then! πŸ˜›

Oh really?! You lucky thing! I’ve tried to find a trailer or featurette or SOMETHING on that film for a while but there’s nothing! But then again, it’s almost a year until it’s actually released in the UK. Wonderful main cast though- Michael and Carey Mulligan. I love them both! It’ll be exciting to see what they’re like together! Yeah, I read that it’s the same director, although I’ve yet to watch Hunger. It received quite a few awards, I believe and was when Michael got his big break, so I’m assuming it’s very good!

You’re so lucky you can go to a film festival, especially where they’re showing Fassy’s stuff! I’m in my last year before University and so cant go anywhere really- too much studying, unfortunately. But please do post about it after you’re back! Tell us all about it!

Aaah great, we can now share our opinions now we know our likes are similar! Aah no worries, I’d love to hear what you have to say! Happy blogging!

  4. I’m so sorry, this is probably THE latest reply ever! I will definitely read your review when I get the chance! πŸ˜€

*Gasps* you didnt! You lucky person! I bet he’s even more beautiful in real life, eh? πŸ˜›
